What Is Wrong With Advertising?

The Degeneration Of American Values

A Happy Family. 1950’s General Electric ad campaign.

The purpose of advertising is to elicit a reaction from the consumer. Sometimes television commercials can be very persuasive, or they can be a total turnoff.

I do not know what has happened to advertising, but most television commercials these days are not representative of American culture or society as a whole.

The traditional family has been replaced with single parents, same sex couples, and interracial families, all these while excluding Caucasians families and other groups.

But why is this happening? I believe that the “woke” culture, the promotion of victimhood, and the pressure from minority groups, under the thread of boycotts, have put pressure on companies to comply with this nonsense.

But at what price? I, for one, will not patronize businesses who have fallen for this DEI shakedown.

Back in the day, television advertisements with good-looking people were the norm. Today, even beauty products are advertised with people that the majority of society would deem unattractive.

Excuse me, but if a company is going to attempt to sell me a product they claim is going to make me look better, the last thing I want is to see someone who looks worse than me after using the product.

Even obesity has been made to look like healthy living, while making obese people appear as the victims with commercials about stopping “weight bias.” Obesity is not a healthy way of life. It is dangerous and people die from it.

Inexplicably, 3 out of 5 commercials are cast with Black talent, despite the fact they only represent less than 18% of the United States population.

I am of Hispanic heritage, so I am not the target audience for these products. Now, if these companies are trying to get Black people to spend money on their products, that’s fine, but they are excluding those with the spending power.

In the United States, White Americans hold about 80% of the total wealth, so you would think that products would be targeting those with the spending abilities.

Unfortunately, this is part of the DEI culture of victimhood. Companies have bought into the lie that minorities in this country have a difficult time achieving financial independence or opportunities, so they use advertising as a tool to promote this mentality of failure.

Even with all these “Black-only explosion” in advertising, blacks represent only about 9% of American buying power, behind Asians and Hispanics.

But perhaps, this has been done purposely. Maybe all these  “Black-only”  or “Majority Black” casted commercials are meant to rehab the image of a sector of the population that is mostly known for criminality.

After all, Blacks in America commit and tried for over 50% of violent crimes according to FBI statistics. Unfortunately, this is high mountain to climb, and it will require more than a few “make believe” scenarios to change the reality on the ground.

But this is not the only flaw with advertising. Companies want you to believe that men can be women, kids are independent entities, and people should get paid in advanced for work that hasn’t been done yet, among others.

The only way to teach these companies is to make them pay with your wallet.

Why would I buy a product from a company who thinks I am not worthy enough to be represented in their ad campaigns?

Why would I buy a product from a company who doesn’t represent my values?

I don’t and neither should you.

How To Reject Woke Culture With Your Personal Wealth

Very much so!

Since the Obama years, this country has been peppered with woke culture left and right. From companies adopting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies to government agencies lowering standards of employment in the name of “equality.”

Companies like Meineke, Safelite, and Vrbo, to name a few, want you to think masculinity is a thing of the past as they continue to feminize males in their television commercials.

Financial services companies like Chime and SoFi encourage financial irresponsibility by offering their customers the ability to access money they haven’t earned.

Advertising companies continue to use people in their television commercials who are not representative of the overall make up of American society. Omitting those with the purchasing power is not a winning strategy, but companies continue to fall down that rabbit hole. They think this omission is the right thing to do because of their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion policies.

I decided a long time ago that I was not going to cater to these companies and institutions. They have the right to conduct their business and aimed their advertising to certain segments of the population, but I also have the right to choose who I will give my business to.

During Covid, I refused to patronized businesses who wanted me to wear a mask. Despite the fact our government said masks were useless, these businesses insisted on enforcing it. I have adopted the same approach towards the DEI culture and any company who pushes this nonsense down our throats.

My first victim was XM satellite radio. I got a 3-month freebie from my car dealership after a service, but after those three months I decided XM was not for me.  The service is expensive, and the programming is poor. Any broadcasting service who excludes a race of people should not be allowed to exist.

For example, why do they have to have Black channels only? If any other outlet would offer White only channels that would be deemed racists, but for some reason XM gets away with it. So, when they called me to subscribe to the service, I told them no thanks.

The best part was when the customer service representative asked me why. I told him I was not going to patronize a business who excluded a group of people based on their skin color. I added their programming was not geared towards people like me, and I was not going to pay for a service that was not inclusive.

I have to say that it felt really good, very refreshing knowing the power of my personal purse is a powerful one. Unlike our Congress, I do understand the power my money has over my everyday life decisions.

XM is not the only company I have rejected in my everyday life, but I think you understand where I am coming from.

You do not have to settle for less.  You have the power to tell these companies, no. Money moves the world, and as a consumer you have the power to reject companies who do not share your values.

Your hard-earned money means something, use it wisely.

Time For The United States To Implement Mandatory Military Service

Korean Boy Band BTS Members To Serve Their Country

As a former member of the United States Army who had the honor and privilege to serve my country during peace and war time, I have always believed mandatory military service should be implemented in the United States.

Every American of age should serve their country and be willing to defend it if necessary. Serving in the military not only was a great personal experience, but it taught me how to be a self-sufficient individual at a time in my life when I needed it the most.

Growing up in a single parent household, I understood there were things my mother was not going to be able to teach me and it was up to me to learn them on my own, and the military was there for me.

I understand today’s United States Armed Forces are different from when I joined in 1987. The military has become a social woke experiment in which using proper pronouns to identify men who feel like women are more important than be combat ready.

Nevertheless, the military is a great way to earn a living, earn money for an education, and give back to the country that has given many so much.

This week it was announced K-pop stars and members of Korean boy band BTS are going to serve 2 years of mandatory military service as it is the policy in South Korea.

After several arguments between BTS and the Military Manpower Administration, in addition to rumors and accusations of favoritism, the band members are on their way to serve their country.

In a time when tensions with North Korea are on the rise, it is time for these individuals to fulfil their duties.

South Korea’s mandatory draft requires all males between the age of 18 and 35 to serve in the armed forces for a term of 18 to 21 months. The oldest member of BTS, Jin, is 29 years old.

Seriously, when does a boy stop been a boy and becomes a man? At 29 years old I had already served in combat and was enjoying a new career at the Department of Justice.

As much as I would like for this type of mandatory draft to be implemented in the United States, I also understand today’s American society is one of fragility and touchy feelings.

Our military institutions have become a cesspool of social justice psychobabble and political engineering incapable of facing a worthy adversary.

Hopefully, we will never have to engage in a global war because I really doubt our military is ready to face the realities of war.

Can you imagine the Jonas Brothers serving in the military? Neither can I, but they ought to.

Let The “Plandemic” Before The Mid-Term Elections Begin

White House Declares Monkeypox A “Public Health Emergency”

It was just a matter of time before the Biden administration would use something like Monkeypox to fix the next election cycle.

They cannot win on the issues, so they have to come up with something to fix the mid-term elections.

It is unfortunate the Biden administration have chosen to politicize Monkeypox instead of addressing the issue head on.

Everyone who has been reading about Monkeypox knows this is not a national emergency, but an emergency limited to certain states and cities in the United States. It is also limited to a specific sector of our population.

Keep in mind, as of today, the number of infected people in the United States is around 6,600 out of a population of over 330 million people.

You do the math and try to rationalize how this is a “public health emergency.”

Like the government did with HIV/AIDS, they have, once again, neglected to address the issue and instead made Monkeypox a political one.

Shameful!

The American Circus Continues

‘Do As I Say, Not As I Do’

I am going to assume the Biden administration either loves to look incompetent or is completely out of touch. Otherwise why would they continue to have Anthony Fauci as the face of the Covid-19 response.

The man is a liar who the American people no longer respect or trust.

Here he is, once again, with his doom and gloom scenarios and Ouija board predictions. More of his ‘do as I say, not as I do.’

Of course, this bureaucrat doesn’t follow his own advise and while he wants you to live inside a cave, he’s doing his thing and enjoying the things he’s telling you not to do.

There’s nothing serious about this man. Live your life because he’s definitely living his.
