Racial Pandering and Advertising

This is what Racial Pandering looks like in advertising. Unwelcome noise! Photo courtesy of trinityp3.com

I do not watch much television these days because network television offers programming that I find demeaning, insulting, racist, and too dumb to waste my time.

It is by design since network television works hand in hand with our government and the government is happy if we are dumb and stupid.

On those moments that I have watched or flicked thru channels, I have noticed advertising agencies and products are not advertising to people who look like me.

It seems companies have decided that people who look like me are not welcome to buy their products, despite the fact 85% of the people who happened to look like me, still have the most buying power in the United States.

This is a fact, and the data do not lie as you can see in the following chart courtesy of www.eMarketer.com

So, why the Racial Pandering? Personally, I do not support businesses who wish to infringe on people’s rights or companies who think that I am a lesser being because of the way I look.

Racial Pandering is despicable and companies who engage in such behavior do not deserve my hard-earned cash.

Fortunately, the beauty of being an American, and the free market, is that I can take my money and go elsewhere to get the things I need. I do not endorse companies or products whose ideology and values differ from mine.

Advertisers think that Racial Pandering, for whatever reason, is the right way to go about things or change. It is divisive in nature and does not promote any type of unity or dialogue.

Two wrongs do not make a right. When companies and advertising agencies think excluding a whole group of people is the way to reach a certain sector of the population, all they are doing is contributing to social discord.

But I am not surprised. In today’s America everything is backwards. What once was wrong, today is right and vice versa.

So, remember, you have the power to reject these companies and products. The United States is not a racist country and when companies are trying to tell you otherwise, they do not deserve your business.

Racial Pandering is racist in nature and should be rejected by every American regardless of race.

Time to Hit Businesses with Your Wallet

Any business asking for this doesn’t deserve your business! Photo courtesy of myfox47.com

I’m not one to advocate for boycotts, but I do believe in the power of the wallet and the choices we make by using it.

Businesses in places like New York City have gone out of their way to infringe on people’s rights and privacy by requiring prove of vaccination or a negative Covid-19 test before taking their money.

Personal health information is private and protected under the law.  Why would you give that information to the minimum wage host?  You don’t have to!

A business asking citizens for a vaccine passport are, for all intent and purposes, practicing medical discrimination and you should not support any kind of discrimination under any circumstances.

As a consumer, you have the freedom of choice and the freedom to spend your money whichever way you want and wherever you want.  A business asking for my medical information is not going to get my business, period.

What businesses are failing to realize is the fact everything is available online.  I don’t have to go out to have a nice dinner or to buy anything I need.  I can order everything from the comfort of my home and without the harassment.

Unfortunately, I am not surprised Americans are capitulating to this nonsense and willingly relinquishing their rights.  After all, most Americans are uniformed and don’t even know their own rights under the law.

Like the Roman Empire and the Roman satire of “Bread and Circuses”, our government has been operating the same way, but instead of food and gladiators, the government has given Americans free money we don’t have and network television.

Oh yes, network television, offering Americans the dumbest content you can think of it.  Mostly based on racial overtones, because today that’s supposed to be humorous, and no meaningful or intellectual content.

That’s how you keep the population off the loop and Washington is an expert at doing so with the help of companies like Facebook, Twitter, and the major networks.

So how we move forward?  Simple, take your business and money elsewhere.  Do not give up your rights for the sake of a meal or a sporting event.  That’s how thing starts in a totalitarian society.

They always start small, just as the Nationalist Socialist German Worker’s Party did in 1933 and it went on to govern under a totalitarian system until 1945.  It didn’t end well for over 6 million Jews and the millions who died because of World War 2.

Little by little you give in and by the time you realize it, you have already given too much to take it back.

Having to show prove of vaccination or a negative test may sound like small potatoes, but in the bigger scheme of things, is nothing more than a control measure and discriminatory in nature.

We should not reward any business who wishes to trample our God given rights under the law and the United States Constitution.

Our rights are worth fighting for.

Joke of the Week: Prison Ware at Kanye’s Prices?

The Prison Look. Seriously?

If you have ever been a prison inmate, you may recognize this Kanye West, $350.00 pair of “Croc-like Yeezys”. After all, this style of shower shoes are standard issue at prisons and county jails all over the country.

I guess this is the new fashion craze among “Yeezy-istas” as they post pictures on Twitter of this new Kanye West inspired release.

It must be me or the “thug look” is back in style.  These styles of shower shoes are the same style given, including that beautiful orange color, to inmates at numerous prisons throughout the country.

So why would people pay $350.00 for a $3.85 pair of PVC sandals?  Why would people want to look like a prison inmate?  You will have to ask the people who are crazy enough to buy this stuff.

But, if you insist on looking like an inmate while walking the posh streets of Manhattan, I do offer an alternative for you, and nobody would notice the difference.  Go to https://www.bobbarker.com/footwear/sandals and for $3.85 you can buy the same footwear Kanye is selling for $350.00 at affordable prison prices.

Trust me, nobody will notice the difference and you will still look cool.  Or you can go to prison and get them for free.

Business Shaming of the Week: The Fabulous Fox Theater

The Fabulous Fox Theater, St. Louis, Mo. Not so Fabulous! Photo courtesy of explorestlouis.com

This week’s “Business Shaming” honor goes to none other than the Fabulous Fox Theater in St. Louis, Mo.

They were honoring the death of George Floyd on their marquee, along with the death of Police Captain, David Dorn, who was murdered by looters outside of Lee’s Pawn Shop, a local business in St. Louis, MO. Captain Dorn was a friend of the family, and beloved member of the community, who was responding to an alarm when he was murdered outside of the property. They were also honoring law enforcement by displaying the hashtag “Blue Lives Matter”.

After some local backlash, the theater issued an apology for displaying the Blue Lives Matter hashtag on their marquee and proceeded to remove it.

This was their apology:

“We sincerely apologized to the Black community for the hurt we have caused by our recent marquee messaging. While our intention was to display a show of unity and to honor both George Floyd and Officer David Dorn, the delivery of that message failed when we included the blue lives matter hashtag. We are truly sorry for the hurt and anger this mistake has caused.

“The Fabulous Fox is a place for all, and we condemn racism and hate in all forms. We love St. Louis and we want to be a part of the solution. We are listening and we are learning.

Unequivocally, #BlackLivesMattter.”

If the The Fabulous Fox was really a “place for all”, they would have stood firmly behind their decision to honor Captain Dorn, Mr. Floyd, and the police officers, who put their lives on the line every day for their patrons and citizens of St. Louis.

Unequivocally, #BlueLivesMatter.

Instead, they decided to take a knee, and in the process, dishonored the memories of Captain Dorn, George Floyd, and their families.

I, for one, will never patronize the Fox Theater in St. Louis and call on a boycott of this establishment. The Fabulous Fox Theater got this one wrong.

Stetson 150th Anniversary Fortune and Glory Fedora

This week I’m showcasing a great Fedora from the Stetson 2015/150th Anniversary collection. This was part of a great collaboration with Matt Deckard.

This is a beautiful and classic Indy look. When I think Fortune and Glory, it takes me back to the great adventure film, Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom. You can wear this fedora with a nice suit or a more sporty look, in either case the fedora is a head turner.

The lines in this fedora are absolutely perfect. The brim is very nice an pliable making it very workable, and the fact it is made of 100X Beaver felt is the cherry on top. The leather sweatband is comfortable and the branding is classy. To me, this fedora is definitely the quality I have always expected from Stetson, and when you attach the name Matt Deckard to it, you should expect no less.

If you can get your hands on a Stetson Fortune and Glory, go for it, you won’t regret it.
